That’s a typical line of guns waiting for birds to cross one of our canyons with guns on pegs below. European shooting attire encouraged, but not mandatory.
That’s Danny discussing overhead bird hunting technique with Dick Mandeville, well-known competitive shotgun shooter and one of only 80 Level 3 shotgun instructors in the country. Dick spends much of the fall at Lazy Triple Creek Ranch teaching and hunting his two amazing gun dogs.
Poaching? Me? The back story here is in the UK and elsewhere poaching a bird in some else’s lane is considered poor etiquette shooting on the line of guns. You will be told politely but firmly, “Not your bird, Sir or Ma’am.” We are not so strict at Lazy Triple Creek Ranch maybe because we have so many targets and no bag limits.
We doubled the number of driven shoots we will be running this season. Available pegs are selling out rapidly.
Here’s what is still available:
October 8: 2 pegs available
October 22: 5 pegs available
In addition, we can run a driven shoot for up to eight guns September 14 to 20 or after October 22.
We supply loaner shotguns if needed, all ammunition, guides and well-trained dogs, snacks during the day, lunch, cocktails and conversation on the deck at the end of a very full day, and birds cleaned and vacuum packed for your departure for $2,900 per person shooting plus 6% Idaho sales tax. We are keeping prices unchanged in 2022, actually unchanged for the past 12 years, despite 30% cost increases.
Shooting in late October or early November will depend on the weather and bird supply. We are holding back enough birds for a late in the season driven shoot. Let us know if you are interested in joining a group of four to eight for a driven shoot in early November.
Driven shooting at Lazy Triple Creek Ranch at Thanksgiving would be a wonderful family tradition. Add a stay in our nine-bedroom lodge to make it even better.

Our 2022 upland bird hunting season got off with a bang. Several hundred bangs actually, as we opened our upland bird hunting season this week with walkup hunts and the first of many European Style Driven Shoots with Western Sensibilities.

We are beginning to close down our clays courses as we concentrate on upland bird hunting. We are keeping Five Stand and our world-class 14 station sporting clays course open for those staying with us and hunting upland birds, driven or walkup.
