Dedicated to Outdoor Pursuits: Fishing, Shooting, Hunting
There is lots of news to report in this issue of Ranch News including expansion of the Lodge, transportation issues being resolved, a new mode of transportation to the ranch, long range rifle and defensive handgun classes, and opportunities to come shoot and hunt at Lazy Triple Creek Ranch still available this season.
The Ranch is fully open for the 2024 season and busy. We have had several families shooting together. We love to see that. Shooting together makes families stronger and our nation stronger. It’s great to see the next generation realize they can responsibly handle firearms and love and value the sport as much as earlier generations of Americans. Thank you, Henry, Natalie, Brett, and Bernadette.
Lodge Expansion
We had wanted to include a photo of the completed Lodge expansion, but the stonework is not yet in place.
The expansion adds an ensuite bathroom to the one of the nine bedrooms in the Lodge which was not ensuite, a larger laundry room with natural light, a much needed expansion of the mud room with gun storage, and a new ammunition storage room accessible from the outside.
We hope to include photos in the next newsletter.
Transportation to the Ranch
The pass reopened three weeks after this…
A “temporary” solution reopened within three weeks. Even though “temporary,” the new road is better than the old, and a permanent solution is promised by November. The journey to the ranch from Jackson Hole is again 90 minutes (60 minutes from Wilson).
We also have a new option for travel from Jackson Hole Airport. 30 minutes by helicopter on what must be one of the most scenic helicopter rides in the world.
Long Range Rifle and Defensive Pistol Classes
George Harris will return to Lazy Triple Creek Ranch for rifle and pistol classes on August 23 and 24. George served in the Army for 39 years, shot for and coached the Army’s rifle and pistol teams, and is the co-founder of the Sig Sauer Academy. None better. If you are not a better shooter by the end of one of one of George’s classes, we refund the cost of the class.
Read George’s book on marksmanship if you want a taste of George’s approach to being successful in the shooting sports:
Marksmanship Simplified
Bring your family. You know we like that, and you will have a great family experience.
Shooting Opportunities this Season
With over 90% of the groups who shot with us last season rebooked for 2024, openings to hunt upland birds with us while staying in our luxury lodge are limited.
There is room on the calendar to shoot and hunt with us during July and August for Cast and Blast, or come shoot our trap, skeet, grouse butt, crazy quail, five stand, and our best anywhere 14 station sporting clays course while staying in our luxury lodge.
We are sold out for groups who want to stay with us and hunt upland birds in September and October.
More information is below.
Cast and Blast
We are taking bookings now for a day or two of clays shooting combined with a day or two of fly fishing the iconic rivers of Eastern Idaho, all while staying in our luxury lodge.
We have open dates in July, and August for shooting, but our fishing outfitters are sold out on many days. If you would like to join us for a day or two clays shooting combined with a day or two of fishing the iconic rivers of Eastern Idaho, book now.
Clays, Clays, and More Clays
Our trap, skeet, grouse butt, five stand, crazy quail, simulated driven shooting with clays high overhead, and what many have called one of the best 14 station sporting clays courses in the world are all open.
Come for a day or a few days with a group of friends or family. Minimum two.
We provide loaner shotguns for those not shooting their own guns, all clays, all ammunition, and lunch.
Fall European Style Driven Shooting with Western Sensibilities
The Upland bird hunting season at Lazy Triple Creek Ranch opens August 31 with our signature event, European Style Driven Shooting with Western Sensibilities.
Two drives at each of two locations, a break for Elevenses, two more drives at a third location, lunch, afternoon walkups with a guide and well-trained dog, ending with cocktails and conversation on the deck.
Days and pegs are filling up. In fact, most are sold out. Here’s what’s available:
• August 31: Two pegs
• September 7: Five pegs
• October 5: Six pegs
If those dates don’t work for you and you have a group of six to eight, and you want to experience European Style Driven Shooting with Western Sensibilities in America, let us know and we will try to find dates that work for you.
We can accommodate those wanting to shoot for individual days but stays in the Lodge of three or four days are already booked except for the last week of August and the first and second weeks of November. Call 917-821-7210 to confirm.
Upland Bird Walkup Hunts
We have a few days available here and there on the calendar for walkup hunts with a guide and well-trained dog.
Call 917-821-7210 or email hank@lazytriplecreek.com to book your hunt. Minimum two.
2025 Bookings
With the ranch sold out for groups for upland bird hunting this season, we are taking reservations for 2025 early this year.
If you are booked to shoot or hunt with us this year, you can rebook for the same dates next year at this year’s prices by the end of your stay. You can book any other available dates at this year’s prices by the end of December.
If you would like to get on our waiting list for 2025, let us know and we will tell you what dates are available as they become available, usually at the end of each group’s 2024 visit.
I have said it before: Book early. That gets you the dates you want and helps us in planning for staff and bird supply.
Stay safe, stay healthy, stay shooting.
