Our Best Year Yet
Our 2024 season is ending. This has been, without a doubt, our best year yet for those who shoot or hunt with us and for us. Success all around, as some say.
Our best compliment in 2023 was:
“This is a no-BS operation.”
The best in 2024 was:
“The driven shoots here are different from the UK. They’re much better.”
In 2024, we held several times more driven shooting days, our signature event, than ever before. The high bird bag was 408 by the Southern Assassins. Those guys can shoot and have a great time doing it. There are no bag limits ever at Lazy Triple Creek Ranch.
This email exchange kicked off the final driven shoot of the season (two drives at each of two locations, break for Elevenses, two more drives at a third location, lunch, two drives at each of two more locations after lunch—our most extensive driven shoot ever—ending the day with cocktails and conversation in the Lodge by the fire).
Client:
“70% chance of rain on Saturday. What’s the plan?”
Ranch Manager Steve:
“We have ordered fog in the morning and light rain in the afternoon. We want this to be as authentic as possible.”
It snowed, but not during the drives. Did the guns have a great time shooting in the snow? You decide.
We have one more group booked for this week, and then we turn the walkup fields, full of birds, over to the guides and dogs who helped make the season so successful for a cleanup hunt of their own. Most lodges sell these late hunts, but we prefer to give those who delivered excellent upland bird hunting experiences for our guests the opportunity to hunt our ranch with their family and friends. Thank you, guys, gals, and your great gun dogs.
That will end upland bird hunting in 2024.
The Lodge and Five Stand remain open during the winter and spring for family or corporate retreats. Contact us if you want to use the Lodge for a family or corporate retreat. We use our five-passenger snow cat to reach Five Stand when the roads are under five feet of snow. Shooting clays in the snow is almost as much fun as shooting birds.
2025 Elk Hunts
A fine 6 x 6 from the 2024 hunt. Dan can be very proud of this one.
We are adding a week of archery hunting during the last week of September in 2025. Stay in the main Lodge. There will be no other shooting on the property during this week.
We have outfitter tags for rifle season from October 15 to 22. We can help archers obtain tags, but they are not guaranteed.
If you are interested in trophy elk hunting, rifle or archery, please let us know, and we will make a selection by the end of November.
Book Now for 2025
We have openings for three-day fishing trips from the Lodge from May 1 to the end of August.
We are accepting bookings now for groups wanting to stay with us to fish the blue-ribbon waters of Eastern Idaho with the area’s most experienced outfitters and guides. Add a day or two of clays for a traditional “Cast and Blast.”
The clays courses, trap, skeet, five stand, grouse butt, crazy quail, and what many have described as the world’s best 14-station sporting clays course, open June 1.
Book by the end of April, and we should have availability unless you want specific dates, in which case you should book early.
Upland bird hunting, walkup, and our signature event, European Style Driven Shooting with Western Sensibilities, sold out in 2024, and we expect to sell out again in 2025.
To make this fair for everyone and reward repeat customers, we have already accepted bookings from those who hunted with us in 2024, with a group of six to eight, for the same dates in 2025.
We are now accepting reservations for the remaining dates from groups of eight wanting to shoot our signature event, European Style Driven Shooting with Western Sensibilities, and stay in the Lodge.
We will accept all other upland bird hunting booking requests beginning December 1.
Rifle and pistol classes will be available in August.
